"I love the sense of satisfaction that I get when I’ve done a swimming workout or race, and know that I gave my whole being and heart to God in every moment of the swim. It’s the best worship I can offer him."

Penny Heyns

The Official Book, Keir Radnedge, London, Carlton, 2018. ISBN 978-1-78739-030-0

, There is nothing in this book that you won’t find on the internet but I just think it is nice to have a book. I will keep it on my desk during the World Cup as I did last time and the time before.

The book starts with a lot of useful information about Russia, the venue cities and how the location and Russian culture will affect how the World Cup will be played.

The core of the book is a 2 page feature on each of the 32 finalists with a profile of the coach, a reminder of previous World Cup performances, two featured players who could be key to the country’s success as well as an analysis of their prospects. Some of Keir Radnedge’s choices for key players – but isn’t that the joy of football, that we all have an opinion!

Similarly, Radnedge’s choice of 16 players who could be the stars of the World Cup includes some no-brainers and some surprising choices. But isn't disagreeing with the expert part of what we love about football? Finally there are several pages of statistics which every fan enjoys.

A book to dip into and more importantly a book to keep by your TV to serve as a match programme for the TV World Cup fan.
