Christian qualities

In purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; 2 Corinthians 6: 6-7.

In these verses we read nine Christian qualities. Last week we noted some of the challenges that we face in life and sport. Here are nine qualities to help us through the hard times.

The key is to be in the Holy Spirit, to seek to give our circumstances in the club and in life to God and to be led by the Spirit. When we have to take a stand, we are to do it with weapons of righteousness and in the power of God – not in our own strength.

The characteristics that we are to show are: purity, patience, love, kindness and truth. If we can live up to those – or rather let Christ live them out through us - we will make a difference as we represent Christ in the world of sport.
