If I had to choose between my wife and my putter... well, I’d miss her.

Defending the line (the David Luiz story), Alex Carpenter, Zonderkidz - Grand Rapids, 2014

David Luiz played football for Benfica, Chelsea (twice), Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal - at the time of writing he is still playing in Brazil. He was capped 57 times for his country, Brazil.

The book, written for kids, takes you through his career and makes a number of references to his Christian faith, his wearing a T-shirt with the message “God is faithful” and quotes him saying “I think that God's plan for my life is very big” and “everything in life belongs to God”.

Luiz played football at the highest level but was often criticised for being undisciplined. While playing in England he received 41 yellow cards and four red cards - career total 6 red cards.
