The article begins by summarising how religious activity has become a part of top level sport.

There is an amusing quote “stating that coaches and athletes do not believe that religious prayer will make up for failure to acquire necessary skills or employ strategy” but that prayer is helpful in managing stress.

The article is based on the study of 19 collegiate student athletes. The number and other descriptors suggest that this is the same 19 athlete on which the Czech and Bullet “an exploratory description of Christian athletes perception of prayer in sport” study is based.

Some of the findings were similar to the other paper. Additional results included that prayer put sport in perspective, helped athletes to face challenges and deal with the inevitable losses. The results indicated that female athletes supported prayer and religious rituals more than male
