History of the Game includes a year by year summary of incidents from 1848 to 2017, but even goes back to the 1314 and the royal edict forbidding football. There is reference to some of the great teams and great moments across the ages.
The index lists 10 great players but the chapter profiles 200 of the all-time greats. While famous clubs concentrates on the top European clubs, there are also shorter profiles of clubs from around the world.
The book can be read systematically or opened at random to read an interesting section.
