"Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play…it is war minus the shooting."

Boasting

No one likes an athlete who boasts! As I have had the privilege of getting to know a number of elite athletes over the years, I am often struck that the ones who have most reason to boast in their achievements, records and medals and the ones who never mention their achievements.

Let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me,that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 9:24

God told Jeremiah that the only think worth boasting about in life is the fact that we know God! Stop and think about that WE KNOW GOD. In the celebrity culture of the modern age, knowing someone famous gives great kudos. But to be able to say that we know God, really is mind-blowing.

As with all great offers, you have to check the small print! As we think about the privilege of knowing God, we need to remember that he is a God who delights in kindness, justice and righteousness. And a condition of knowing God is that he expects us also to delight in kindness, justice and righteousness.

Kindness – is about how we treat people.
Justice – is about promoting fair play and not trying to take advantage of people.
Righteousness – is a gift that God has given us through Christ.

Remember today that you are special because you know God and boast about it living out kindness, justice
