"I love the sense of satisfaction that I get when I’ve done a swimming workout or race, and know that I gave my whole being and heart to God in every moment of the swim. It’s the best worship I can offer him."
David’s prayer
Hear me, LORD, and answer me <Psalm 86:1This Psalm takes only 2 minutes to read but it is full of content. If I have counted correctly, David finds 16 different things to thank God for:
5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.
6 you answer me.
8 there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.
10 For you are great and do marvellous deeds; you alone are God.
13 For great is your love towards me; you have delivered me from the depths,
15 But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
David’s response to the goodness of God is to tell God he will praise Him, put his trust in Him, serve Him and glorify God’s name for ever.
He also acknowledges his need of God, asking God specifically to:
2 Guard my life, save your servant
3 Have mercy on me,
4 Bring joy to your servant
11 Teach me your way, LORD, give me an undivided heart,
16 Have mercy on me;
17 Give me a sign of your goodness.
Take two minutes to read the Psalm and to offer it to God as a prayer for today
