Humble

Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. Numbers 12:3

Moses was a powerful leader, a high achiever. He is one of the heroes of faith. A real man of God, pioneer of the faith. He confronted Pharaoh, led the Israelites across the red sea, he received the 10 commandments, he led a stubborn and rebellious people. So how do you sum up such a person in one word? Humble

That is not a word that we normally associate with a high-powered leader. Humility is not a common characteristic in our world or, dare I say, in the world of sport. It is the clear message of the Bible that God loves those who are humble. See, for example:
For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Matthew 23:12
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10
Jesus is the supreme example of humility. Paul writes of him he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross Philippians 2:8

Let’s go into our world of sport today with a spirit of humility and be different for Jesus.
