"God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast and when I run, I feel his pleasure."

Eric Liddell in Chariots of Fire

Marathon 2011

The London Marathon is one of those amazing occasions with 35,000 runners setting out intent only on finishing or breaking a time barrier. And raising so much money for charity. At the same time there are the elite raceswhich assemble a world class field.

I worked as journalist, spending the day in the media centre by Tower Bridge, watching the races on TV. I usually write for the Oxford Mail but with Mara Yamauchi injured this year, there was no local interest.

I did a report for radio -listen at Planet Sport

Edna Kipligat who finished third told me, "I am a Christian and I always pray to God to give me strength and peace of mind. In your life you need to put God first and everything then becomes clear. Whatever I do, I ask God to bless me."
