Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop – a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Matthew 13: 8After seeing how some of the seed came to nothing, Jesus refers to how the rest falls on good ground and yields a plentiful harvest. The farmer need not worry too much about losing a little seed to the path, rocks or thorns as long as the majority is sown in his field and produces a good crop.
Jesus gives the interpretation in verse 23: “But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown”.
Believing in Jesus and living for him is a life-changing experience. The “yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times” can be interpreted in a number of ways to refer to character, influence, people coming to faith through us. The point of the parable is that as we come to know Jesus, accept the gospel, believe it and live it out in our lives, it will make a difference to us and to others.

We need Christians to live out their faith in Jesus in the world of sport and to make that impact for him, producing a hundred, sixty or thirty times what we received.
