Worshipping God

All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name. Psalm 86:9

In Psalm 86 the Psalmist presents God as worthy of our worship He is:

The God who saves (Verse 2)
The God who forgives (Verse 5)
The God who gives joy (verse 4)
The God who is incomparable (verse 8)
The God who is faithful (verse 11)

The Psalmist acknowledges his own personal faith in this God in whom he trusts. He acknowleges that he is poor and needy (verse 1), needing mercy (verse 6) and needing to be taught. He relies on God’s faithfulness (verse 11).

For me it is always a great paradox that the God who is the creator and sustainer of all things is a personal God to whom we can relate. God Almighty loves and cares for each of us personally.

At the start of the year, remember who God is and give him thanks. Express your worship to him – not just on Sunday morning but also as you train and compete. And when training is hard and competition disappointing remember to lean on the God who saves, forgives, gives joy and is faithful.
