The book gives set prayers to be used by athletes, coaches and others in sport. There are prayers for all situations – there are praise prayers, thanksgiving prayers, prayers for before and after the game, prayer for training situations and even mindset prayers.
Examples of specific prayers are: a prayer to process a poor play or disappointing performance, a prayer to help approach a session of injury rehabilitation, a prayer for mental focus and prayer for a stressful moment.
The author is an experienced sports chaplain who has prayed for athletes throughout his career and has encouraged them to pray for themselves. What this book does is give ideas on how to pray. Alongside each recommended prayer there is a blank page headed “prayer journal” - to encourage athletes, to pray, to write down their feelings and the results of the prayers.
This is an excellent book which I thoroughly recommend.
