"I love the sense of satisfaction that I get when I’ve done a swimming workout or race, and know that I gave my whole being and heart to God in every moment of the swim. It’s the best worship I can offer him."

(Last minute moments that changed football history, John Boland, Pitch 2024. ISBN 978 1 80150 672 4

The book recall some of the late goals that won more than one simple game including Aguero’s comeback goal for Manchester City against QPR to win the league, Michael Owen’s 4-3 winner in the Manchester Derby, Michael Thomas winning the league for Arsenal against Liverpool in 1989, Wigan’s FA Cup win in 2013, Liverpool’s 4-3 win over Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle United, Manchester United’s UCL final with Bayern.

The weakness in the book is that chapter headings often refer to one of the above games but the chapter content jumps about and at times it is difficult to follow the sequence of games and their relevance to the chapter heading. Arranging the material under headings, rather than in chapters would have been better.
