If I had to choose between my wife and my putter... well, I’d miss her.
Anxiety
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1Peter 5:7
There is a lot of anxiety in the world of sport. There is a lot of insecurity. In a world where as a player or coach you are judged on performance and results, it is easy to be anxious.
Sportspeople are normal people - we have financial pressures, we experience relationship problems, we get sick, sometimes we die. As sports people we experience additional pressures - fear of injury, fear of competition, fear of defeat, even fear of victory, fear of losing status, one's place in the team, fear of not getting a new contract.
As Christian sportspeople we have a relationship with one who cares for us. What a description of God in 4 words, "He cares for you". God is always looking out for you. He wants the best for you. And at the final whistle he will take you to be with him forever.
Being a Christian doesn't make your problems disappear but it does give you a way dealing with them. Each day we have a choice we can either carry all our own anxiety or we can cast it all on the one who cares for us.
